The Cording Foot Snaps onto the existing shank and presser foot holder on your machine. The guide on the top of the foot has three slots in which to place cords. To load the cords into the slots on the top of the foot, simply slide the cords in from the right. Load the left cord first, then the centre cord and finally the right cord.
Looking at the foot you will see that there is a small bar atop three grooves in the front of the foot.
This is where you cords are placed.
You can loosen the screw on the left of the foot to allow for a looser grip of the top bar across the cords.
The is particularly useful when working with larger cords. For smaller cords, such as embroidery thread ad tighter grip is preferable.
Multiple colours or the same give different effects so feel free to play around with some scrap fabric before making a choice for you final piece.
Embroidery threads give a wide selection of colour, or a lighter weight woollen yarn, such as a sock yarn work equally well.
Make sure the thread the yarns through the footbeforeyou put it on the machine, using the clip on bar.
The three step zig zag stitch is perfect for this foot as each cord is caught in it own stitch as part of the pattern.
You can mark out a swirly floral pattern using chalk or work with straight lines. If sewing around a curve go SLOWLY to get the best accuracy.
Then simply sew along your chosen stitch path and all the strands of yarn will be sewn into place automatically.
Top Tip: When you are sewing pay some attention to the used portion of the threads to keep the threads from twisting.
