The best invention in the world that people know of for removing stitches and unpicking seams, but only if used correctly.

A seam/stitch ripper or quick unpick consists of two ends; one has a sharp point allowing entry into tightly sewn areas and the other usually has a small red ball that nobody knows what to do with.  In between the two is a 'U' shape cavity that is sharp like a blade which runs up to both the point and the ball.

To undo a seam, sharp point of the tool is inserted into the seams stitch until the thread hits the U-blade to be cut.  If the seam is then pulled apart, the threads will loosen to create a hole.  This can then accomodate the ball end of the seam ripper and run along the seam which will simultaneously cut and collect the threads of the seam.  Once mastered this can be a very effective and 'quick' way to 'unpick' seams but becareful the blade doesn't cut into your fabric.
